6/2/2023: Just under a ton of food delivered today, to distribute to families in need. Good fresh fruits, vegetables, and protein. Enough to allow families to have a great Shabbos.
Special thanks to Alan Myers for his dedication and commitment with this program.
3/25/2026 Update: Today we are distributing hundreds of pounds of chicken, fish, and meat to families in the community. Attached are a few pictures from our pickup at the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, which we purchase from. As I write this, we also have a delivery arriving from Murray Ave Kosher.
As you’ll see in the pictures, we’ve rented a freezer truck for several days to accommodate multiple scheduled pickups.
This is in addition to the food we’ve already sent to prisons, along with Seder boxes that include everything needed for the Seder—featuring specially prepared dried charoses and dried horseradish.
We will also be hosting our own Seders each night here at the Aleph Institute. These will be “dry Seders” (no wine), beginning at 7:00 PM and concluding by 9:00 PM, so that those on curfew or staying in halfway houses can return on time.
