Aleph Programs

A December 2006 Justice Department  report stated a record 7 million people -- one in every 32 U.S. adults -- were behind bars, on probation or on parole by the end of last year.  Men still far outnumber women in prisons and jails, but the female population is growing steadily. Over the past year, the  female population in state or federal prison increased 2.6 percent and the number of male inmates rose 1.9 percent.  As one can see, the numbers aren’t decreasing and the disheartening statistics go on and on.

However, there is hope. The recidivism rate (the tendency to relapse into a previous condition or mode of behavior) among prisoners drops from 77% to 40% where religious  organizations are involved in rehabilitation. The Aleph Institute works hard to stay  involved in all aspects of the incarcerated process to ensure appropriate and effective development of needed programs and services.

The Aleph Institute has carved out its niche as an organization working for Jews in dire need of guidance and direction in bettering their own lives and those that surround them, ensuring that “no Jew is alone.”
