Christie Joesbury was born in Bradford, England and moved to Florida in 2005 as a teenager. Her education at the University of Florida included a dual major in History and Criminology. Christie was active in many student groups including Florida Alternative Breaks which provided service learning opportunities and Outreach Ambassador Program, an education focused group. She gained experience interning with several nonprofit and government organizations, including Alachua County Work Release and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

After graduating in 2014, Christie chose to combine professional and service work as an Americorps Member. In Americorps National Civilian Community Corp, based in Sacramento, Christie served in several projects helping nonprofit organizations in California, Washington, and Nevada. The following year, Christie became a member of City Year, an education nonprofit based in Boston, Massachusetts. She served as a mentor, tutor and role model for 6th grade English Language Arts classes and in afterschool programs.

As a new graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University Heinz College, Christie is pursuing a masters degree in public policy and management. She hopes to combine her work experience and the analytical skills the program offers to help organizations like Aleph Insititute that help people in all walks of life. Christie is excited to join Aleph's team as an intern.
